1.) Hi how’s everybody in EMBRYONIC DEVOURMENT ?
– Everyone is doing great, except for the fact that we are poor!! haha

2.) Of course the unfamiliar question :). Please tell us the band history, how’s the ED band formation?
– The band originally is a stem off of a project called Ye Old Skabbard with Me (Austin), Lauren, and Luke. That was in about 1999-2000. We sang songs about satanic pirates that inhabited the ocean. That band broke up and reformed 6 months later with the name Embryonic Devourment and a whole new outlook on brutal death/grind with members Lauren Pike (guitar) and Luke Boutiette (drums). After the band wrote a new set of songs and played a few shows, they re-added me – Austin Spence (Bass/vocals). Recently, we added Adam Weber on 2nd guitar.

3.) I heard that you have new release called Fear of Reality. Can you please tell somethin about that album? And what the listeners can expect in that album aside from sickness?
– There are a lot of new twists and turns and brutal stomping breakdowns as well. All the while keeping things very technical, fast, and brutallic – to a point of mental breakdown and new horizons formed. It’s and Overload of advanced sickness!

4.) Was it intentional to make a technical death metal music?
– No, we are just following our soul’s structure and ability to manifest itself in an artistic form. Even before i ever heard metal – i loved the Army, war, and Death. I loved to kill insects and watch horror movies. This has all been a natural progression for me, personally.

5.) Who are your influences in musical and non-musical?
– First and Foremost my Dad – Ronny Lee Spence. He played in various metals and rock projects and graduated from Musicians Institute. Early Metallica, Slayer, Death, Sepultura, Cannibal Corpse,Napalm Death, Suicidal Tendencies……later on came bands like Suffocation, Gorguts, Cryptopsy, Decrepit Birth, Braindrill, etc. Also recently, i have been listening to alot of Opeth…

6.) What is the best song ever written in ED all albums?
– It would be between Human Harvest or Fear of Reality….from the new release…

7.) So you guys already added another guitarist from mummification/OCCISION. Was he already performing in the new album?
– No, he is not on the new album. He joined 6 months after the recording. He is a sick and very skilled guitarist and will make any future shows and cd’s sound unrivaled. The newer materials we have been writing lately possess leads, harmonies, and intricate bi-rhythms.

8.) What are all your lyrics all about? And how do you guys wrote lyrics like that?
– Our lyrics are based on an ideal passed down by David Icke and Credo Mutwa (tribal leader). The ideal is that basically a reptilian race rules the world and manipulates our leaders. They drink the blood of virgin cunts and thrive on earthly materials such as oil and minerals…..gold,silver, etc. They have been ruling the world for millions of years and even helped to build the pyramids. If you would like to know more you will have to read “The Biggest Secret” by David Icke. We sing about some pretty tripped out stuff……the all Seeing Eye.

9.) What’s the difference of your new album to the previous one?
– New music and also a new engineer. The engineer for this recording is Matt Sotelo of Decrepit Birth and the engineer for the last cd was Juan Urteaga of the band Vile. Both Engineers have totally different styles and sound ideals.

10.) In your own words how can you described ED music and also on stage?
– When we play live we always try to put on a good visual aspect as well as musically. We headbang and talk evil poetry to the crowd…..blood.

11.) Any hobbies that you guys do aside from writing music and killer stuff?
– i like to Golf and smoke weed. Luke likes watching hockey and making pipes. Lauren likes to build things.

12.) Here’s the end of this interview thanks for your time. Anything to add or spit out in public?

I hope Bush loses this election! No more Bush!

1.) What’s up guys? Any something new in the band?
Hey Adrian whats up dude, did you have a good time at the southern grindfest?Well yeh man new things for the band is that we recently added a second guitarist to the line up,a very good friend of our Kenny. We are really pleased to have Kenny join the band,he completes the full sound that we are after and makes it sound a lot more brutal specially with his 7 string he use’s. February of this year we embark on our first national tour in support of our first mcd Devour The Cervical Martyr.

2.) Can you please tell us about the biography of Vixen Execution?
– Well the band formed in the later part of 2006 as a 5 piece.at that time it was me on vocals,Ricki from Odiusembowel on the drums,Steven from Subsidence and Second Gear Grind on 2nd guitar,Geoff formerly from Subsidence on lead guitar and Dave from Content To Bleed on bass,we did 2 shows with this line up before calling it a day so to speak.Ricki moved to Melbourne Australia to consintrate on Odiusembowel and Steve left to focus on his stoner rock band Second Gear Grind.Early 2007 I asked Leon Milnes former drummer of Brutalized Mortality to join on drums and he accepted. We started writting new songs that were comming along very quickly. In April of 2007 we hit the studio and recorded 10 songs that we used for the cd Devour The Cervical Martyr that we just finally released in Janurary 2008.Also in Janurray we got Kenny in on the Vixen action do do second guitar.

3.) What are the lyrics all about in the Devour The Cervical Martyr Ep? Can you please tell more about the EP?
– Well the lyrics are your typical gore/violent themes but then there are some that are slightly personal to me like the song ‘Rehabilitated To kill’ which is about my best mate who was murdered, sorta a message to the bastard who took his life.I personally try to come up with song titles that have a slightly humorous aspect to them like ‘Is Using Corpse’s For Collateral Legal’ and ‘Do They Concider It Incest If You Fuck Your Own Clone’ which is’nt on the cd.The EP/mcd are basically the songs we wrote very quickly with the new drummer. Most of the songs on the cd are more of a Grindcore sound but as we have progressed we are now writting songs that are slightly more Brutal death metal but still keeping the origin of grind in it.

4.) How’s the writing process of Vixen Execution?
The writing process is done by all of us really, prodominatly by Geoff(guitards) and Dave(bass) they’l come to practise with heaps of riffs and together they will contruct a song on the spot.the newer tunes we are writing are getting slightly more technical yet taking influence’s from such bands as Condemned(usa),Internal Suffering,Suffocation and Brutal Truth.Literally ever fortnight we pretty much construct a new song which is good to keep on jamin on new material and keepin us focused on the job so ta speak.

5.) Who are your major influences in music?
There are a few influence’s we have ranging from classic grindcore bands to brutal death metal.Bands like Condemned,Internal Suffering,Suffocation,Devourment,Artery Eruption,Disgorge,Brutal Truth,Regurgitate,Flesh Parade. These are all bands we think kick fucking ass that we have been listening.

6.) What’s the best song do you prefer to perform on stage in all of Vixen Execution songs?
That’s a tricky one as each member has different songs they like to play.I think the ones we like to play live the most are ‘Is Using Corpse’s For Collateral Legal?’,’Severed Hand Masty Jam’,’Sexually Attracted To The Beheaded’,’Suffocating The Defiled’ and ‘The Lactating Coprophiliac’ oh and our longest song to date ‘Feastering Fragments Of Her Cauterized Penis’.All these songs get great response from the crowd when played live which is a huge boost for the band.

7.) Are you guys have planned to release a Debut full length album soon? What’s the band main goal?
Shit yeh dude thast is something we want to achieve this year is to do a full length album. We also want to try and go oversea’s and do shows possibly in Australia as well. Also we want to start looking for a record label so we can further our chance’s in the metal world and that for everyone to hear our music and say ‘man New Zealand got some brutal shit down there’ lol.

8.) How can you differentiate the New zealand metal musick to other countries musick?
I think that New Zealand is on the same wave length as some of the big name bands out there. Being here in such a small country we live in it is hard to make a name for yourself in the world of death metal for sure. Each band here has its own unique sound and style which is good for divercity. Every band will have different influence’s that’ll be heard in there music. Thing i like about NZ metal is that there is soo much good talent out there like bands like Dawn Of Azazel, Ulcerate which i personally think are the 2 biggest well known NZ bands that are doing extremely well for them selves. Hopefully one day the rest of the world will hear more about NZ’s metal scene and start to enjoy and like what we are producing in such a small country.

9.) I watch a couple of gigs here in christchurch and i saw that underground metal crowd is not so big, but other bands are awesome like sinate and other great band. What’s your comment about that?
It basically comes down to it that we are a small country therefore we are gonna have slightly smaller numbers at gigs/shows. When ever an internationally act hits our shores there is always a huge crowd that comes out to these events. there are some killer band here in NZ though like Dawn Of Azazel,Ulcerate,Backyard Burial,Akaname.I personally am not a fan of Sinate,no my prefered style of music, but respect them for what they do and how they do it.

10.) Are you guys an Atheist coz i heard most of the people who live here in Christchurch don’t believe in gods, but I’m just wondering why it’s called Christchurch (lol)?
I have no idea bro why it’s called Christchurch.most of the metal heads here have re-named it to ANTI-CHRISTchurch lol.Yeh i guess there is a huge number of us that dont believe in god(s).My thoughts to the matter is if there is such a thing give me visual proof and i might consider the options, but i dont see that happening dude ay lol.

11.) Does the whole band members have the same tastes in music?
Pretty much bro,I know Geoff,Leon,Kenny and i are huge fans of brutal death and grindcore.Dave and Kenny are also fans of Hardcore aswell, there is the odd bit of hardcore thats cool but yeh more into the brutal sik ass grinding shit ay

12.) Is there some best metal band to recommend aside from Dawn of Azazel and sinate?
I highly recommend Ulcerate,Backyard Burial,Graymalkin and Akaname and Torturor.Other kick ass bands like Load Master(i sing for them aswell) are awesome to,Relentless Attrition were fucking sik but they broke up and another of my previous band Offal Stench was awesome,we had heaps of positive feed from the international scene aswell.New Zealand metal is going from strength to strength and hopefully will get reconized internationally.

13.) Ok here’s the end of interview anything to spit out in public?
Well on behalf of myself and the rest of the Vixen Execution crew I personally want to thank you bro for choosin us to interview, means alot man that your interested in a band from small New Zealand.

Check us out on myspace www.myspace.com/vixenexecution .

Comments Off on LAST VIGIL

1.) Can you tell us the history of Last Vigil and what’s the ideology of music your band had?
-We Started way back 2005 and we play some Sixfeet Under and Cannibal Corpse(old), until we decide to play some original stuffs like compositions and with the influence of our brother band “StinkyHeadz” that influenced by DAVAO BRUTAL TROOPS like human mastication, almoranas then we have an idea to play some brutal shits.. The Nauseated Viscera and Festering Cadaver is the result of our ideas. were just four in the band that time BORNOK,GOGS, BRY and LOUIE(ex-drummer), until TEDS arrive from manila and we encourage him to join the band.. There are some adjustments because teds is more on thrash death and black metal.. And MIKELYNCH(new drummer) wich he easily adopts the style of the band because he is into brutalstuffs too.. But still we decide to play BRUTAL SLAM DEATH METAL with some element of thrash death metal, heavy refs and adlibs.. Soon we will post the new shits in myspace..

2.) Can you tell us about your demo? And do you guys have a plan to release a debut album soon?
– We are working for the demo now and maybe soon we will release it and we are currently searching labels thats supports the band… Hope if we record all the compositions and seek good label then maybe we will release the debut album.. Financial and the quality of the recording is just the problem here! But we are doing the sickest best to make it possible!

3.) How’s the writing process of last vigil?
– With the idea of bornok, gogs and teds its fucking sick!

4.) Who mostly write the lyrics in last vigil? What’s your inspiration in making lyrics?
– The frontmant bornok mostly wrotes the lyrics of lastvigil fits into gore,pervertion/porn and really brutal shits..
His inspired cos bornok is a pervert hahaha kidding aside its really nice to write the lyrics when you’re really influenced to brutal bands and watching brutal movies gives ideas too! ^^

5.) Any band influences including local bands. Who are your influences?
– We think Dying Fetus is our major influence actually we cover some Dying Fetus shits.. local bands? Stinkyheadz,Humanmastication,Down from the Wound is the shit!!

6.) How did you guys got into a brutal slam death metal genre?
– Thanx to Davao Brutal Troops and Stinkyheadz for inspiring us… But its doesn’t mean we are adopting their style. We just listen and get ideas because originality is really the important!

7.) Does the whole band members have the same tastes in music?
– Actually no… Teds loves black metal, old school and Thrash. Bry loves jazz, blues and for him the best band is Lamb of God. Then Gogs, Bornok and Mike have same taste! But we are not sticking to one genre we love to explore other genres like hardcore, goregrind, progressive, old school, alternative, experimntal, dancehall, jazz, and even hiphop! Like 311, cypress hill and many more!

8.) Are you guys into anti religion or in occult?
– We are not anti relegions we are just ordinary maybe half yes half not… ^^

9.) How’s the metal scene there in your place?
– In our own comment it’s not that good because there some fights with the fellow metal, hope they realize that unity is what we need and we are all metalheads here eventough they can’t accept the new style but it’s still influence into metal. Insecurities suck! But the gig and events are good… We are just blessed because we can play every month.

10.) Any future plan for your band last vigil?
– Our main goal is to release a full length and hope everyone will like it in this undergore world! And hope LAST VIGIL will stay strong and and make you satisfy!

11.) here’s the end of this interview anything you guys want to add?
wanna great CDO brutal maniacs,FETAL MUTILATION,AKTARMA SUICIDE,LOST CREATION,DAVAO brutal troops,PUS VOMIT,JAMIE and Phlegm Thrower,GARFEL of stinkyheadz for the never ending support!! SICKBLAST PROD. And Etroops Coalition! keep it brutal!

1. How are you guys in DFTW? Can you please give us the history of DFTW, how the band formed?
Hey bro, well everything is well with us. Anyway, the band was formed in the year 2001 and had undergone to a lot of lineup changes until we gain stability by the year 2004 with Tristan on vocals, Jeff on guitars, Randyl on drums and the latest addition Jay-quin on bass. We have two demos out, two splits out and recently Sevared records released our debut album “Agony through Rituals of Self Purification”.

2. When the first time i heard DFTW demo you guy’s sounds like a foreign band and can really compete to other bands outside Philippines ? What’s the band influences?
Thanks for that bro, we appreciate the nice words. Basically, we have lots of influences as a group plus we also have our individual influences as a musician. We look at Devourment, Disgorge USA (RIP Ben Marley), Suffocation and Decrepit Birth as our heavy influences at the moment.

3. How do DFTW write the music and the riffings also?
Nothing really special with us in writing our materials, Jeff and Jay-quin will do guitar riffs first, we arrange it according to our taste and enhance the entire song hands on with our instruments inside the studio and the lyrics will be executed after the music is perfectly mastered.

4. How did you guys contact the Sevared records and does DFTW has contact other label or only the Sevared Records?
We sent them our promo cd and luckily Sevared liked it and we made a deal immediately. Yes we sent our materials to other labels as well and we got a lot of great offers from them, fortunately we choose Sevared.

5. When the sevared records heard your demo. What’s their comment about the sick music you guys created?
They signed us immediately!!!

6. I read all the good feedback about the album, what’s your comment about that?
We’re grateful to hear all the good feedbacks and the negative feedbacks as well. It’s really a million dollar feeling for us, we got a lot of emails from those people who bought the cd, we appreciate them as how they appreciated us.

7. Can you please tell something about the album “Agony through Rituals of Self Purification”?
The album has 14tracks, 10 studio recording plus the 4track demo. Artwork was done by Arif Suhaimi, Flesh Disgorged/Wormrot vokills ( Singapore ). The cd was released by Sevared Records and also distributed by some distros/labels from the USA , to Europe and Asia .

8. What’s the TRUE UNDERGROUND METAL mean for you?
Hmmmm, well for us, collaborating to the underground scene, getting in touch with the labels and fans and to the other bands as well is the true meaning of it. There is no big money involved here, and we’d like to keep it that way!!!

9. Are you guys into anti politics shit? What can you say about our country now?
Yes maybe, I think most of us are into it but I choose to keep my thoughts about it with myself. Every one of us has its own opinions concerning politics.

10. O.k. Here the fucking ends of this interview. Anything you can add?
Thank you so many brothers for the time, Sorry because it took me so long to finish the interview, hope you understand!!!

1.) Greetings guys how are the waking the cadaver band and is there something new?
Hey man what’s going on. Waking the Cadaver is doing well, were happy the CD is finally out. Right now news with the band is that we are writing more new material that has already surpassed our debut CD in heaviness. Be prepared.

2.) Can you please tell us how the formation of waking the cadaver band?
We formed out of long-time friendships and desire to make heavy music. Almost 2 years ago now i think.

3.) You guys have fucking ultra guttural slamming brutality music. Who are your influences in creating a brutal musick like this?
Yes, our main focus is to make the most insane guttural slamming music possible. While we do have a huge variety of bands we listen to, including bands that don’t slam at all…the main influences for our slamming sound will always be dying fetus, digested flesh, devourment, dripping…etc.

4.) Can you tell something about your new release?
The new release in my opinion is what everyone who is a “Slam death” fan could want. it’s packed with over-the-top heaviness the whole album. The theme follows throughout the album lyrics and shown as a package with killer art by Tony Koehl.

5.) In your own words how can you describe or label your musick?
Non-stop relentless slamming guttural insanity, with catchy breaks and twisted speed changes.

6.) How are the writing processes of your musick?
Right now we are in the process of writing a few new songs; we might release a 3 song Cd in the future, or maybe do a split with another band. The new writing is in the same style of our previous music, but will clearly show our progression as a band.

7.) How can you say a band is a true underground metal and not a poser?
A band that is true is a band that gets out there, plays shows, and shows their love respect for their fans. Bands that are posers are usually fucking internet geeks with big mouths and shitty music.

8.) After the release of your new debut album, what do you guys feel and also the feedback from fans and friends?
The response has been great and we couldn’t have asked for better for our first cd. Big thanks and respect to our friends and fans for always sticking by us.

9.) What are your lyrics all about in this album?
Well, as people read through the lyric booklet they will find that our lyrics are much inspired by cannibal corpse tomb of the mutilated days. Lots of post mortal degrading and torture.

10.) When and where is the bands first gig? And can you describe the crowd when you guys slamming the stage?
I can still remember our first show, it was killer, we played with one of the best local bands from our area Nag Hamadi, and coincidentally it was their last show while it was our first show.

11.) Are you guys into an anti politics shit? Do you care about your country?
Well, we are extremely proud to be Americans; however, right now we feel our country could be better, hopefully with the next president. But we do not talk about any politics in our music.

12.) Ok here’s the end of my interview anything you would like to add?
Everyone thanks for being a fan! We appreciate it. Also, you can plan on seeing waking the cadaver continually putting out fresh new music! Thanks

Comments Off on FLESH CONSUMED

1) Hi how’s everyone in flesh consumed?
– Everyone is doing great over here Adrian! Our debut album “Mutilate, Eviscerate, Decapitate” is about to drop and I got a new line up. We’ve never been so tight!

2) Can you please tell cult mongers readers about the band formation of flesh consumed?
– I started up the band in 2003, before getting a chance to record an EP we disbanded. I reconstructed the band with all new members in late 2005. Recorded the “Inhuman Butchery” EP, got signed to Sevared Records, reconstructed the band once again, recorded the “Fermented Slaughter” EP, put out the “Fermented Slaughter/Inhuman Butcher” double EP on Sevared Records, played shows, wrote and recorded the “Mutilate, Eviscerate, Decapitate” full length on Sevared Records, played Cali-Deathfest and reconstructed the band once again. With the new line up we are now in the position to dominate.

3) Who are your influences? Musical and Non Musical?
– Most of my inspiration is summoned from non-musical elements, such as horror or sci-fi movies, the book “Seth Speaks”, my wife, family, friends, my Surroundings, the cosmos, etc. I am also influenced by non death metal genres of music. I try to adapt the techniques, structures, and progressions I hear into a death metal setting. I think if you look in your own genre too much for inspiration you might be influenced to sound like someone else, but there are some select bands that have tremendous influence in my life such as Immolation.

4) About to new full length album. What will be the fans and the sick listener will expect on that?
– I think our fans will be very satisfied with this release, we put everything we had into the album and you can hear it in the music. It is an extremely dynamic album. It’s got blasting, groove, technicality, dark melodies, and is structured around brutality.

5) What re the lyrics all about in this new full length album?
– We’ve got subjects involving cannibalism, torture, schizophrenia, Armageddon, the underground human meat market and all that good stuff.

6) Can you please tell something about the writing process of flesh consumed and who mostly write the lyrics in Flesh Consumed?
– Usually the drummer and I will do most of the writing and the others will pitch in a riff here or there. Alex and I wrote most of “Mutilate, Eviscerate, Decapitate” and all of the “Fermented Slaughter” EP either I would present a riff, he a beat, or we would improvise for ideas.

7) Your music has a melodic and technical atmosphere, was it intentional to add melodic and technical touch in your music?
– I didn’t want it to be melodic initially but as I progressed as a musician I started to add more dark and evil melodies. I have always been interested in writing brutal music with some technicality.

8) Why flesh consumed named of the band?
– I have always been fascinated with cannibalism. Don’t you think an athletic human could produce some tender fillets? The catch might be a little harder though…haha

9) How can you described the crowd when you guys playing in the stage? Is there some rumble happening because of the flow of your music?
– I’ve gone through so many line up changes that each separate line up gives off different energy. Our new line up is definitely going to fucking destroy!!

10) How long is FLESHCONSUMED now in the Gore grind industry and Flesh consumed seems like has a great fucking member’s line up. What can you say about that?
– We’ve been in the death metal industry since 2003 but didn’t get signed until early 2006. The new line up is solid as a rock, so I would definitely have to say this is the most punishing manifestation.

11) How can you say a band is true underground metal and not a poser?
– Listen to it, read the lyrics, and make a decision.

12) Who made the killer artwork for your album? It’s a really fucking killer art man?
– P.Timm- He’s an amazing artist and a fucking sick dude from San Jose, California. Our “Fermented Slaughter/Inhuman Butchery” EP was the first gory album art that he had done. All his work is amazing though. He is very smooth and has great ideas. Check his work out at www.ptimm.deviantart.com

13) what was the feeling playing in a show with the band line up like this Devourment, Guttural Secrete, and Artery Eruption. Can you tell something about the show? I’m sure that was a killer show?
– It was Devourment’s first California show ever, so it was an honor to be on that one. All those bands destroyed and even though there was some last minute venue changes it was a blast.

14) How did you guys contact sevared records? And what was the Deal between sevared records and Flesh Consumed?
– After the “Inhuman Butchery” EP was released, I started shopping it out to labels and a few were interested. We went with Sevared because Barrett is great to work with and I dig the bands he signs. As far as our deal goes, that’s between Barrett and Flesh Consumed, but he definitely gave us a great deal.

15) After the release of your double EP you guys already sold 100’s of copies worldwide? Is it not hard to find a label to promote albums and shit like that?
– Actually, the label, and Flesh Consumed have gone through at least 1000 copies. Sevared does a great job at promoting us in smaller countries that wouldn’t normally hear of us. I think labels like Sevared keep underground death metal alive.

16) What’s Fleshconsumed ideology in terms of music and in life?
– Try to constantly grow as a musician, as a person, and stand up for your beliefs.

17) When did you start creating music like this and how did you become obsessed in metal music?
– I started getting into heavy music around 10 years of age. Once I heard Morbid Angel’s Covenant I knew my calling was death metal. Since then I’ve been searching for heavier and more brutal music.

18) Are you into anti Christian or in some occult shit?
– Everyone has different beliefs in Flesh Consumed. I believe in multi-dimensional reality, which means I got multiple personalities going on simultaneously (If interested check out “Seth Speaks” by Jane Roberts). I also have neo-pagan beliefs. I don’t believe in gods and goddesses like many pagans, but I believe the appreciation of the earth is vital. I guess you could call me a sci-fi pagan… haha

19 ) for how long do you think flesh consumed will stay together?
– Until we have said everything that needs to be said and done everything that needs to be done. I don’t see us accomplishing that until at least five or six solid albums are out, but then again, I’m sure I’ll have even more to say at that point in my life, so who knows. I will probably stop in Death or Armageddon.

20) Here’s the end of this interview thanks for your time answering this. Anything you would like to add?
Thanks Adrian, keep up the good work spreading the sickness in the underground.
